The Big Day! Rachel and Amalia’s Wedding
The reason
we are all here finally arrived!
Saturday dawned and a perfect day was in forecasted. Mid 70’s, sunny and less wind than we had
been having. Stubby and I joined the
girls as they were prepping for the big day. Champagne helped with the hair and
makeup.
The wedding venue was the Wellington Botanic Gardens. A beautiful slice of heaven in the middle of the city. The wedding was held in a Remembrance Ridge. The ceremony was perfect and the setting was spectacular. It was made extra special by the number of US friends and family that were able to join our new New Zealand family and friends.
We then moved
to the Boat Shed on the waterfront for the reception. It was the perfect place for a
reception. The party went into full
swing. First we had nibbles and drinks,
then enjoyed a fabulous gourmet dinner.
After many heartfelt toasts, the dancing began. The Kiwis know how to party! I thought that I was a dancing queen but I had
a hard time keeping up with them. It was
a perfect day!
Sunday, Day 5
No one
wanted to end the party so 40 of us gathered together for a Sunday brunch to
continue the celebration. Dim Sum (small
plate/ tapas) served Yum Cha style (servers bring trays of food to the table
for you to choose from, served family
style). Loud, crazy and tons of
food. It was a great way to end the
celebration.
Beautiful!! What a great celebration. Sandi
