Wellington 18-22

Rotorua to Wellington

With our change in plans for leaving Rotorua, we left there after our golf round and traveled to Napier.  Napier is a town on the east coast.  It was pretty much a stopover on the way to Wellington by this time.  The only plan we had for Napier was to get up and watch the sun rise over the ocean.  One of the first spots to watch the sunrise in the world.  Well it came up but our view wasn't too great as you can see.  It's there somewhere 😆.  We did see the moon though!

Wellington Day 1 (Wednesday)

We arrived in Wellington in time to travel to the Wellington vs USA exhibition football (soccer) game. The women's world cup will be played here in July so the US women's team came to New Zealand to play 2 exhibition games.  One in Auckland and one in Wellington.  It was a beautiful hot day, in fact so hot we had to move to the shady side of the arena to watch the game.  I know, poor us.

The US prevailed but the game was exciting.

Wellington Day 2 (Thursday)

Thursday Stubby and I visited Rachel and Amalia's new apartment (since we saw them in 2020), but the highlight of the day was the girl's bachelorette pub crawl in the evening.  A good time was had by all.  Some of us old folks crawled a shorter distance than others.😃

Wellington Day 3 (Friday)

Friday we started prepping for the wedding.  Some of us got mani's and pedi's to pretty ourselves up for the big day.
Afterwards, Stubby and I visited the Wellington museum, a free museum showcasing the history of Wellington.  We were suitably impressed.  They did a great job and were very informative.
Later on our walk back to our hotel along the ocean front boardwalk (you can walk everywhere downtown Wellington), we finally discovered the beach Rachel's US friends had told us about.  Great beach in the middle of the city.
