Hiking the Escarpment Track
I’m beginning to realize that New Zealand does everything large. Stubby and I got up on our first day feeling pretty good so we said hey let’s go hiking today. It’s supposed to be really windy the next couple of days so today’s probably the best day. So Rachel and Amalia took us to the Escarpment Track north of the city. It is also known as the stairway to heaven! It was a beautiful, brutal trek. But we persevered! All 27,000 steps and 130 flights of stairs.
I’m trying something new and posting a link to all of the pictures. This blog site limits pictures to 5 per page and there’s no way that I could pick only 5.
Please leave a comment if this works and the pictures come through. Thanks.
Day 2 in Wellington
Day 2 in Wellington was a slower day. Our poor little gams needed a break! Ventured to the Waterfront to visit the Sunday market. Even the produce here is supersized. It was a cloudy, very windy day so visited Te Papa- the New Zealand national museum before heading to a local pub to watch the Viking game. Museum- 10, Viking game -0.
After the game we ventured to the top of Mount Victoria (by car today, no hiking uphill for me) to view a panoramic view of Wellington. The clouds and fog cooperated mostly and the view was spectacular.
After a mid afternoon siesta we traveled to Zealandia for a night tour in search of the wily Little Spotted Kiwi. Zealandia is an urban ecosanctuary working to restore a Wellington ecosystem to a pre-human state.
Success! Not only did we spot 2 Kiwi, but saw many of the night creatures of Zealand. Unfortunately we were unable to photograph the glow worms but they sparkled and shined along most of our walk. A spectacular tour.
Thanks Stubby for the wonderful night pics! I'm still trying to figure out my new camera.
Here's a link to all of the pictures for the day

It works. You may be discovering too how much time it takes to blog, post photos etc. enjoy! Thx for sharing.🥰shari
ReplyDeleteThat underground market by the waterfront is interesting too. Loved to travel way up in those mountains and to the sea to view the seals and the waves. Many movie film crews in “Wellywood” too. Hope you got to D4 on Featherstone.
